Community Foundation of West Georgia

Community Foundation of West Georgia

The Community Foundation of West Georgia partnered with BowerComm to clarify its message, refresh its brand, and build confidence among staff and board members—creating a more approachable identity and communications platform that helped the foundation better connect with its community.

THE CHALLENGE
  • Lack of clarity and consistency in messaging.

  • Need to better communicate the foundation’s role and impact.

  • Board and stakeholder turnover requiring renewed alignment.

  • Difficulty engaging the broader community beyond core audiences.

  • Opportunity to create a more approachable and recognizable brand.

OUR APPROACH
  • Led the foundation through the Journey to Yes process to define messaging, voice, and positioning.

  • Developed a refreshed brand identity centered on the concept of “Unleashing Potential.”

  • Evolved visual identity from a traditional oak tree to a more approachable acorn character, now used across materials and campaigns.

  • Created donor-facing communications including newsletters and annual reports.

  • Updated digital giving platforms (Foundant portal) to improve usability and clarity.

  • Conducted follow-up discovery, community surveys, and stakeholder interviews to refine messaging.

  • Led a board ambassador workshop to equip leadership to confidently communicate the foundation’s message.

THE OUTCOME
  • Transformed how the foundation communicates—internally and externally.

  • Increased board confidence and participation in message delivery.

  • Created a recognizable and approachable brand identity used across campaigns and materials.

  • Expanded community awareness and engagement through clearer, more consistent messaging.

  • Built a sustainable communications foundation that continues to evolve over time.

"If you're thinking about doing this, you 100% need to do it. I think it's transformational for you as a foundation. I think it's been transformational for both me personally, professionally, as well as our board. You'll come out of it much stronger and more focused. I've been with the foundation for 19 years and gosh--I wish I had this years ago. It probably would've saved a few gray hairs along the way."
